Guests who enjoy vintage aircraft can tour Auckland by air by vintage DC3 — also known as a Skyliner or C47, depending on which ‘life’ referred to.
Of almost 11,000 originally built, there are now relatively few of these durable old workhorses left. Yet they once formed the backbone of commercial airline fleets around the globe, and, even before that, were principle transporters for many of the World War 2 allied air forces. Those included the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
From take-off at Ardmore airfield, you’ll be able to view Auckland International Airport before touring several of Auckland’s volcanic cones, the city centre and picturesque Rangitoto Island. Enjoy great views of the Hauraki Gulf with its stunningly beautiful islands.
Scenic flights operate on Sunday only; this old girl needs plenty of rest!
