Originally acquired by the Auckland regional Authority from the Nathan family estate, the Auckland Botanic Gardens is well worth visiting. Over 10,000 plants, both indigenous and exotic, are on display. The gardens offer a huge array of plant species spread over 64 acres; there are sections of NZ natives, edibles, perennials, shrubs, and magnolias, to name but a few.
There’s something for the entire family here too. The Potter Children’s Garden enables them a journey of discovery which never fails to fire their imaginations!
Guided walks are available and there’s a tractor-drawn ‘train’ for Sunday garden-lovers. The Visitor Centre hosts themed plant displays, information displays and a wonderful café. Enjoy!
