Take a Nashi Pear...

Written by Nancye Pirini on July 27th, 2012.      0 comments

Nashi-dessert

Given a box of nashi pears, it was just a natural progression for Executive Chef Nancye to create something a little special for Nashi New Zealand with their recent a-la-carte dinner. Along with the dessert pictured opposite, the Nashi and Chili Sorbet proved a popular menu item, amongst other items. And with a little 'persuasion', Chef has allowed our viewers the recipes to view and download. Take a look now, dare to impress your own friends or family with these inspired recipes!

Mark Fort (Gold'n Pear Orchard) says:
“I personally thought you ran an excellent operation, very personal and individual (not chain); and top class staff at all levels. The service was great – all plates coming at once with panache... I also enjoyed the quiet, comfortable room (just 5 minutes from the airport and motorway)”.

Our Executive Sous Chef chose this recipe because, in his words: "It can be knocked up by anyone who can read - child’s play".

Eggs 5x
Sugar 470gm
Yoghurt 270gm
Orange juice            140gm
Orange zest 1x
Melted butter 250gm
Flour 640gm
Baking powder 40gm
Walnuts 240gm

Mix the egg and sugar, add yoghurt, orange juice and melted butter, fold in dry ingredients. Scoop into a large muffin dish mould (for six) and bake at 130 degrees for 30-35 mins - boom, done!

Sebastians-Farewell

A farewell function and afternoon tea was held on Friday 6th July with a large group of staff present to warmly send Sebastian off on his travels round the world. Each department presented their own 'send-off' for Sebastian amidst a few tears, high emotion and some laughter.

New General Manager, Jeeva Jeeva-Nanthan officially 'took over the reins' and in his opening speech said:
"Seb is not a typical Hotel General Manager. He is an excellent GM but in addition is the Systems programmer, THS Guru and his more recent passion - CRM guru. He does this all well because of the passion he has for his job. Bidding you Bon Voyage not Good Bye... On my part I look forward to working with all of you".

Extract from Sebastian's farewell speech:
"...I used to wonder what it was that made Jet Park Special - was it the excellent rooms, and facilities, was it the food, was it the location, was it a combination of all of those things? To me the answer is  - the people. We are a family together with a common goal to achieve exceptional hospitality. All of you have skills and can bring passion and care for our guests - but all of you can also choose to bring 'heart'. By heart I mean 'love' for your work, for making someone's day, for each other, and for doing something for someone else - that makes their day that bit better. That's the magic that makes guests feel special and cared for... That magic is why I feel like Jet Park is a great place to work...
Jeeva, is a man with heart, a man with such a passion for people, and hospitality. The perfect person to lead Jet Park Hotel on the next chapter..."

We all wish you the very best Seb, and Bon Voyage!
