Damon originally grew up in South Korea and emigrated to New Zealand with his family over 10 years ago. He started his hospitality career as a night auditor/receptionist in city hotels in Auckland after completing a Degree in Hospitality Management. Damon is currently a Masters student of International Hospitality Management at the AUT University; “This helps me to gain further hospitality knowledge to apply in real life’s hotel operation.”
You will not find a more pleasant and helpful Duty Manager in Damon, who is ready and willing to assist, always with a smile to boot. Asked why he enjoys working in hospitality, Damon is quick to admit he really enjoys meeting and greeting people, and in understanding their needs and wants. He also enjoys the team environment with friendly work colleagues, and the challenges in dealing with sudden disrupts etc.
“We always do our best to please our valuable guests by going the extra mile, rather than just processing check-ins and check-outs. For example, we personalize our guests’ preferences to make sure their stay is comfortable. In other words, Jet Park Hotel is simply not a random airport hotel where guests stay just to catch a flight!”
Staying on a personal note, Damon’s ideal holiday would have to be his home town, Seoul - the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea. When not at work, Damon likes to spend time with family and friends, and practice the odd golf at the driving range.
